Game servers

High clocks, low latency, no lag spikes

Tick-based games live or die on single-thread performance and stable latency. Zen 5 Ryzen cores boosting to 5.7 GHz, DDoS filtering that understands UDP and locations close to your players.

What this workload needsWorkload profile

  • Single-thread speedMost game servers run their simulation loop on one thread. Clock speed and IPC decide how many players a world can hold before ticks slip.
  • No noisy neighboursA VPS shares its cores. When another tenant spikes, your tick rate drops. On bare metal every core is yours, all the time.
  • UDP-aware protectionGame traffic is UDP, and so are most floods. Filtering at the edge drops attacks before they touch your port — without adding lag for players.
  • Players nearbyEvery 10 ms counts in a shooter. Pick the location closest to most of your players with our latency planner.

Advice from our engineers

The first hour on a new server decides how the next year goes.

Where to host it

Frankfurt and Amsterdam reach most of Europe in under 30 ms. New York, Miami and Los Angeles cover North America; Miami also serves Latin America. Singapore covers South-East Asia.

Compare latency from your users
  • Set the CPU governor to performance so cores stay at high clocks between ticks.
  • Pin busy servers to cores (taskset or your panel’s CPU limits) to keep one instance from stealing another’s cache.
  • Use a panel such as Pterodactyl to run many instances in containers with per-server limits.
  • Keep saves on the NVMe mirror and copy nightly backups to a second location.

Will DDoS filtering add latency?

No noticeable latency: filtering happens at the network edge and clean traffic is forwarded directly. There is no always-on proxy between your players and your server.

Can I run several games on one server?

Yes. With 16 cores and 128 GB, most operators run from 10 to 40 instances depending on the games, each in its own container.

Which location is best for my players?

Use the latency planner: pick where your players are and it ranks our locations by estimated round-trip time.
